Chicago Board of Election Commissioners Thanks Commissioner Jonathan Swain for His Years of Service

CHICAGO - Today, the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners thanked Commissioner Jonathan T. Swain for his over five years of service to the voters of Chicago. Commissioner Swain joined the Board in January 2016, and his replacement will be appointed by the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County.

“It has been a great honor to serve the voters of this city and assist the dedicated public servants who work day in and day out to administer free and fair elections in Chicago. I am very proud of the work we have accomplished together over the last five years, including driving the successful expansion of our Early Voting and Vote By Mail programs and increasing outreach and accessibility for all communities,” said Jonathan Swain, Commissioner, Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.

“Commissioner Swain is a true person of integrity and has been an ever-present advocate in protecting the most important function of our democracy – the right to vote. During his tenure, he has helped the Board administer nine elections and has worked tirelessly with staff to improve Chicagoans’ access to the ballot box. We thank him and wish him the best in the next chapter of his distinguished career,” said Marisel Hernandez, Chairwoman, Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.

The Office of the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County will now review and interview qualified candidates to select the next nominee to the three-member Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
