White Sox, Chicago Cubs ball parks to host Vote By Mail Drop Boxes on Nov. 3 for Chicago Voters

CHICAGO BOARD OF ELECTIONS TO ESTABLISH “VOTE BY MAIL DROP BOXES” ON ELECTION DAY AT WRIGLEY FIELD AND GUARANTEED RATE FIELD

The Chicago Board of Elections will offer Vote By Mail Drop Boxes adjacent to the city’s two Major League Baseball ball parks, Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, and Guaranteed Rate, home of the White Sox.

The ball-park drop boxes will serve only Vote By Mail voters from Chicago. Both drop boxes will be open – along with the Vote By Mail at drop boxes in 52 Early Voting locations – from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 3, Election Day.

The Wrigley Field drop box will be at the Gallagher Way Gate outside the ballpark on Clark Street. The Guaranteed Rate Field drop box will be on Shields Avenue just north of 35th Street and will allow drive-up service.

“We are delighted that we are seeing more and more use of our Secured Drop Boxes, and this will provide another option for fans on the South Side and the North Side to return their signed and sealed Ballot Return Envelopes,” said Chicago Board of Elections Chairwoman Marisel A. Hernandez.

Approximately 510,000 Chicago voters have applied to Vote By Mail, more than four times the city’s previous record high. This is the first election that Illinois voters have had the option to use Secured Drop Boxes to submit Ballot Return Envelopes to election authorities – in addition to using standard US mail.
