CHICAGO - Voters within the City of Chicago may now apply to Vote By Mail for the November 8, 2022 General Election. The application portal is now live at: https://www.chicagoelections.gov/en/vote-by-mail-application.html
Voters can apply and choose to receive a Vote By Mail ballot in English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Polish, Korean, and Tagalog.
The Chicago Board of Elections will start mailing ballots on September 29, 2022.
The deadline to apply to Vote By Mail for the November 8th General Election is November 3, 2022 by 5:00pm.
When voters receive their Vote By Mail ballot, they may return it through standard US Mail and it must be postmarked on or before Election Day on November 8, 2022. Voters may also submit the Ballot Return Envelope in a secured drop box at any Chicago Early Voting location before Election Day.
When voters apply online to Vote By Mail, the Election Board will send emails to that voter:
- When their application is accepted,
- When their ballot is mailed,
- When the Election Board receives their Ballot Return Envelope, and
- When their ballot has been processed and counted.
Prefer the ease and comfort of voting from home? Voters can now join a Permanent Vote By Mail Roster and have their ballots sent directly to their preferred address ahead of every election.
Click here to download the form for the Permanent Vote By Mail Roster. Voters can also use this form to remove themselves from the Permanent Roster, as well as change their preferred mailing address. This form must be returned no later than 5 days prior to any election by personal delivery or mailing it to: Chicago Board of Elections, 69 W. Washington St. #800, Chicago, IL, 60602.
Voters who previously signed up for the Permanent Vote By Mail Roster will automatically receive a Vote By Mail ballot for the November 8, 2022 General Election at their preferred delivery address.
