Election Judge pay increasing again for March 2020 Primary

Chicago Increases Election Judge Pay

The Chicago Election Board is increasing pay for Election Judges in an effort to recruit full panels for every precinct and reward poll workers for their service.

“Our Election Judges perform challenging and rewarding work. They make sure their fellow citizens are able to participate in our democracy,” said Election Board Chairwoman Marisel A. Hernandez.

“We’re rewarding Election Judges with the pay increase – and by providing new voting equipment that will be easier for the Election Judges to set up and easier for voters to use.”

Election Judge pay for the 2020 Primary will be:

  • $255 for returning election judges who were previously trained and who complete training on the new voting equipment and serve on Election Day on March 17.
  • $230 for new judges and returning judges who were not previously trained and who now complete the training on the new voting equipment and serve on Election Day on March 17.

Applications are being accepted now at pollworker.chicagoelections.gov

The Chicago Election Board currently has approximately 4,000 vacant Election Judge positions for the March 17 Primary.

The $230 base pay for new judges who complete training and serve on Election Day in 2020 was previously: $200 at the Nov. 2018/Feb. 2019 elections and $170 at the March 2018 Primary.
