Chicago Wards and Precincts with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Assistance for Election Day on April 4th

LEP List Provides Precinct Polling Places with Assigned Bilingual Poll Workers and Paper Ballots in Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Tagalog, and Polish

 

CHICAGO, IL – Ahead of the April 4th Municipal Run-Off Election, the Chicago Board of Elections released a list of wards and precincts that will receive Limited English Proficiency (LEP) assistance for Election Day. These precinct polling locations will have assigned bilingual poll workers and paper ballots in Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Tagalog, and Polish.

Totals for LEP Assistance Precincts:

Spanish – 563 precincts 

Polish – 105 precincts 

Chinese – 60 precincts

Hindi/Gujarati/Urdu – 36 precincts

Tagalog – 11 precincts

Korean – 7 precincts

 

Additionally, every precinct polling place in Chicago will have a touchscreen voting machine and audio ballot in 12 languages: English, Spanish, Chinese (audio in Mandarin dialect), Hindi, Korean, Tagalog, Polish, Gujarati, Urdu, Ukrainian, Arabic, and Russian. Voters with limited English proficiency also have the right to bring an interpreter to help them understand and cast a ballot. LEP voters can choose who they want to help them, except the person cannot be the voter’s employer or labor union representative.

 

Please note: On Election Day, Chicago voters must go to their assigned precinct polling place OR to any of the 51 sites open as a ward vote center on Election Day (April 4) from 6:00am to 7:00pm. A voter cannot vote in a precinct polling place other than their own assigned location (or at a ward vote center) on Election Day (April 4).

The Chicago Board of Elections is still recruiting bilingual election judges for Election Day on April 4th. Judges make up to $230 for the day and can apply at: https://pollworker.chicagoelections.gov/
